Convert PNG Images to JPG Without Uploading Them
Use a local PNG to JPG converter when a photo workflow or destination needs an opaque JPEG. Format Fold opens the PNG in your browser, lets you choose a background for transparent pixels, and creates the JPG locally.
When PNG to JPG is useful
PNG is strong for transparency and crisp graphics, while JPG is commonly used for photographs and broadly compatible image delivery. A PNG screenshot or logo may become a JPG for a form that accepts JPEG only, but a transparent logo can develop an unwanted edge if the background is not chosen deliberately.
Example workflow
source: product-preview.png
output: product-preview.jpg
choice: white background, 1600px wide, quality adjusted for the destination
How to convert a PNG to JPG
- Open the Format Fold image converter and select one PNG under 20 MB.
- Check the source preview and dimensions shown in the browser.
- Choose JPG, set the width or height if needed, and select white or black for transparent pixels.
- Set an appropriate quality value, then choose Convert and download.
What changes during conversion
JPG is lossy, so repeated exports or a low quality setting can introduce blocking, ringing, or softened edges. PNG metadata, color-management details, animation, and every source-specific feature are not promised to survive a canvas conversion. Review the downloaded image in its destination workflow.

PNG to JPG questions
Can I make a transparent PNG have a white JPG background?
Yes. Load the PNG, choose JPG, and select Fill white in the background control before downloading.
Will the JPG be smaller than the PNG?
It often can be for photographic content, but file size depends on dimensions, image detail, and quality. Format Fold does not promise a specific reduction.
Does Format Fold send my PNG to a server?
No. The image is decoded and converted in the browser, and the converter is shipped with a policy that blocks background network connections.
